finals week is over//a final few photos.

probably the highlight of the entire indie ogden awards was the photo booth. it was by far the most popular place to be the whole night, including all the food tables.

& while i only got to sneak in there twice, it was pretty much awesome nonetheless. so many photos on facebook!! i didn't even realize how many people were there.

on an unrelated note, my last finals week of fall semester is OVER. the best news of this is that I PASSED MY FINAL SEMESTER OF MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

which i did NOT think i was going to do.

my heavens.. i cried tears of joy! for those who know me, this is a very big deal 5 years in the making. i will be so happy to never set foot in the WSU/USU math buildings EVER. AGAIN.

& as i walk by them, i will make an obscene gesture every time.

oh & also.. i am officially graduating in the spring.

be prepared for a million pictures... part 1.: the party.

soo as any of you who have read this blog know, the past 6 months of my life has consisted of planning this. it's been a pretty time consuming process & a test of my patience.. there were threats of lawsuits, trolls, bullies, communication errors, 3 hour long meetings, & emails.. but somehow this day finally happened.
it turned out SO MUCH BETTER than i ever could have imagined!! four of the five editors were in happy tears by the time we got up to thank everyone (john is very manly.. no tears from our business dude). there were a ton of people, great food, drinks, & awards.. we had such amazing vendors & support from the community.. it was ridiciulously awesome.
with that being said, there were about a bazillion photos of the evening.. & i love them all. i'm slowly but surely going to share them all with you.. :) thanks so much for the support, from near & far.. this was an amazing evening! i'm now positive i could be a PR practitioner for a living. it was so much stress but so great, & seeing everything come together made it ALL WORTH IT!

we had 31 categories.. in order to break them up, we took a little "intermission" & this dancer from french kiss fitness did an aerial acrobatic ridiculously cool performance. 

the wildlife rehabilitation center brought BIRDS! it was a highlight of the vendors, for sure!

there was so much food.. great appetizers from so many locations. i'm sad because i was so busy running around like a chicken with my head cut off that i didn't get to try very much.. i only had a bite of the crepes, which was what i was most excited for!

on top of crepes there were cupcakes, breaded chicken appetizers, potatoes, wings, sliders, sushi, potstickers, veggies, & cheese!

i've told y'all about the event i'm in the middle of planning that takes place in approximately 2 and a half weeks.

it's really coming together & i'd just like to take a moment to brag about how awesome it's going to be! using my PR skills (& with the help of a lot of others) here is what we've come up with for the awards party so far:

-31 awards, all announced by ben winslow, with awards passed out by ogden's junction city roller derby girls (on ROLLERSKATES! so cool!)

-appetizers provided by beehive cheese, desert magnolia BBQ, & slackwater pub & pizzeria

-main course & alcohol catered by roosters (ROOSTERS GUYS!!! that's so awesome!)

-dessert provided by crepes etc & lucy's heavenly bites..cupcakes for ALL

-a photo booth for everyone in attendance to take silly pictures in

-sponsors: city weekly, union station, the front climbing club, lucy's heavenly bites cupcakes, rovalis, local first ogden, wildlife rehabilitation center, junior league of ogden, nurture the creative mind, ogden breakfast exchange, ogden-weber community action partnership, ogden book, nicholson photography, universal reiki light, & local artist chris bodily (who designed the rad poster you see above).

i can hardly contain my excitement...seriously! if any of my family and friends will be in the area on the night of december 7th...i'd really love & appreciate if you'd buy tickets & come support me. it's all for a great cause (promoting local!) & it's the first event i've put on in my career... it would mean a lot to me. buy tickets here! i hope to see your pretty faces!

local first monthly mixer.

this past thursday indie ogden was chosen as the "monthly spotlight" for the local first monthly mixer. local first puts on the event every month, picking a restaurant to go to & people to spotlight. the restaurant this month was the greenery, a beautiful little place located near the mouth of ogden canyon...it was beautiful!

the greenery is notorious for their "mormon muffins," which i ate about 12 of. they offered several appetizers & a lot of people came to get excited about ogden. it was so fun!

it's putting everything i've ever learned in my PR major to work...seriously. i'm writing real life press releases, meeting with possible vendors, receiving 25+ emails a day about it...holy crap!

it's been a lot of stress & busy bee-ness (busy is my middle name) but i am so excited for this to come together!

december 7th @ union station we are hosting the "best of ogden awards!" we had over 500 nominations so the meeting we had yesterday was about narrowing things down. which was super hard. 

my fave coworker BEN WINSLOW has agreed to emcee the event...there's gonna be lots of classy people, dressed up, ready to celebrate.

any of my fam in the utah area...i'd really appreciate you buying a ticket to the thing. it's not very often i ask you to spend money on me...so... it'd be a good christmas present. just saying.

it's really going to be so so so awesome!

but it sure was fun being on the radio anyway.

if you're ever in the ogden area & you hear someone that sounds like me...it probably is me! 88.1 weber fm has started letting me & my friend jenny record promos to run all week long! it's for the blog i write for, which is all about ogden. so we get to spout off a list of all the great things happening in ogden all week...and they play our "ad" 100 times per day!

i'm super excited about this; it'll be a great way for WSU students to get involved & realize ogden is actually SUPER awesome.

we also got to be on the "local lounge" radio show last weekend! mikki, jenny & i were interviewed by 3 dudes (sadly i can't remember their names) about ogden, how we keep up the blog that's gotten super huge in the past few months, & other random things (like what we're being for halloween. haha). it was so fun! & although i learned the hard way i do NOT have a voice for radio, i enjoyed it nonetheless. 

vintage cake stand diy.

i made this cute cake stand originally for my sister's wedding...my mom told me "white," so that's what i did. turns out my sister wants wooden.

so now, i have a cake stand & no cake (or cookies) to put on it! anyone want one? hehe.

the best saturday ever.

luke & i knew this past saturday was going to be amazing, but it turned out to be possibly one of my most favorite days with that boy...even though we got started at the bright early hour of 7 am! record store day was saturday...which is probably my new favorite day of the year. record stores across the country have lots of great deals on vinyl, & if you know me you know i am QUITE the fan of vinyl! 

we headed to graywhale in riverdale & it was spectacular! we found some awesome deals & came home with about 7 new records to add to our collection: harry chapin, wilco, the carpenters, the postal service, atmosphere (limited edition), lupe fiasco for amy, john & yoko, and fleet foxes! SCORE. after, we headed over to indie ogden's RUMMAGE SALE which was a great success, & we left with some lovely new finds!
after the rummage sale, we wandered 25th street & then ended up going to layton to visit luke's sister's family, & then  i went to my sister's soccer game while luke went golfing. after, luke's dad had somehow decided to see if his 1972 mustang was still in working order..one thing led to another & next thing i knew luke was in front of my house so we could take it for a quick spin.

it was amazing! the best saturday i've had in awhile.

they are what will soon be PEPPERS!! our indoor garden is working out a lot better than i was expecting. i'm just waiting for warmer weather to turn our back room into an indoor garden/meditation room. it's going to be lovely, you just wait.

what are you growing in your garden this year? we have 3 different kinds of peppers (jalapeno, bell & red), tomatoes, lettuce, basil, oregano, parsley, & broccoli. we may get brave & try potatoes & green beans later in the year.

urban chic vintage photo shoot.

i got to model some vintage 60s and 70s attire this past week at URBAN CHIC here in ogden.

they have the CUTEST vintage clothes i've ever seen, & at such low costs! it was such a blast to do with these cute girls.

i could also spend my entire paycheck at this store. i was totally born in the wrong generation.
