playing catch-up.

my poor little lady has developed severe food allergies, which is ironic since her mother, aka me, has struggled with some sort of food allergy/gluten allergy/crohns disease since i was 18.

so now i get to pay a crap load of money to buy her special food. she can only have food with fish...no poultry or the beef or the iams food i've been feeding her since she was 1. roar kitty, roar!

in other news, here is what i am currently up to:

-writing a piece for the signpost (WSU's paper) as well as indie ogden about the 10 year anniversary of the olympics. i remember it like it was yesterday, but i was so little! half of my professors were reporters for the whole thing. i've gotten some amazing interviews!

-coming up with a few DIY ideas. now just to get the money to buy the supplies... (oh hey tax return!)

-designing my next tattoo... shhh. i can't reveal what i am getting yet.

-studying a LOT.

-working on my internship with OFOAM (Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music). we're putting on a super rad folk concert extravaganza this summer, so i'll keep you posted on that.

-working my real job(s), also a lot.

needless to say this blog might be quiet over the next few weeks. but be sure to read INDIE OGDEN & if you get a moment, vote for them for city weekly's "best of utah" best local blog pretty please!

good news for a change.

i read about this the other day and it was a pleasant change from the usual bad news i read about. wal-mart held a social media contest (and probably one of the first of its kind) where a  "like" on facebook counted as a vote. the city with the most votes (salt lake city!) won a million dollars for the utah food bank to help feed those who are homeless in the city.

i know everyone has their different views of wal-mart, but a donation of a million dollars seems to be a pretty big deal. so congrats to salt lake city!! i'm especially excited about it after i met a homeless person this summer who called himself gigi and picked me flowers.

i sure hope gigi gets a few good meals in courtesy of wal-mart's generous donation!! 

these feel-good stories remind me that our country isn't totally screwed. which is a nice thought after always reading in the paper about violence, natural disasters and death all the time. haha. happy thursday!

the capitol building.

this building has to be one of my absolute favorites.

yesterday i spent the whole day in salt lake city...i went to parade of homes with my mom, and to my friend's concert at kilby court. [they were awesome. by the way.]

but my favorite part of the day was the few minutes i spent just walking around the capitol building. i lived directly across the street from this building for 3 months, and i never even went inside it! i regret that now, because it's beautiful on the inside.
