quote of the week.

I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness.

WHAT?!

i have come close to reacting in all four of these ways before...just saying. i have quite a few films i LOVE and can't even fathom that other people haven't seen.then i remember almost all of them are rated R, and most people don't watch them. dangit.
but if you do, i give you:
movies worth noting, so you don't end up getting shot ;)
(and not all are R-rated..just saying)
1. once
2. closer
3. match point
4. 500 days of summer
5. lock, stock and two smoking barrels
6. the big lebowski
7. up in the air
8. despicable me
9. black swan
10. thank you for smoking

a new favorite of mine.

SO MUCH HAPPINESS - NAOMI SHIHAB NYE

It is difficult to know what to do with so much happiness.
With sadness there is something to rub against,
a wound to tend with lotion and cloth.
When the world falls in around you, you have pieces to pick up,
something to hold in your hands, like ticket stubs or change.
But happiness floats.
It doesn't need you to hold it down.
It doesn't need anything.
Happiness lands on the roof of the next house, singing,
and disappears when it wants to.
You are happy either way.
Even the fact that you once lived in a peaceful tree house
and now live over a quarry of noise and dust
cannot make you unhappy.
Everything has a life of its own,
it too could wake up filled with possibilities
of coffee cake and ripe peaches,
and love even the floor which needs to be swept,
the soiled linens and scratched records…..

Since there is no place large enough
to contain so much happiness,

you shrug, you raise your hands, and it flows out of you
into everything you touch. You are not responsible.
You take no credit, as the night sky takes no credit
for the moon, but continues to hold it, and share it,
and in that way, be known.

happy news!

i will probably be MIA on the blog for a few days... because..
i am moving!!
after one long year at my parent's house i finally can afford to move out. yay me! i'm moving to a lovely one bedroom cottage just north of school. i can walk to school every day! plus, i'm transferring to a starbucks closer to my new home.
i've never lived in weber county. but i'm so excited to start a new adventure!!
let the packing begin...

isn't it adorable?? it's over 100 years old, by the way.
the pathway next to the house originally went directly to weber state.

nesta will be in heaven with all these trees.

reunion/triathlon. [picture overload].

this year for my family reunion, we did a "triathlon".
we ran a 5k, biked 15 miles, and swam a half mile. [we're crazy, i know.]
it was stretched out over the day with lots of eating in between,so i felt a little better about doing it.
and the fact that i even completed it was pretty awesome, though i sorta messed up my shoulder doing a wheelbarrow race!
all in all it was great to spend some time with my family, and to feel accomplished about completing all three events!!
here's some pictures from the day, most of which were taken by my 5-year-old nephew who finds himself to be quite the photographer.
my niece grace. she loves the camera.

matthew!

me and my mini-me, kylie!

my sis-in-law and niece!

hahah. like i said matthew was a bit obsessed with taking pictures.

his turn for a funny face.

my papa.

and my mama.

potato sack race!

easily the best picture of the night. my niece LOVES luke. i only get a little jealous..

quote of the week.

cherish your solitude. take trains by yourself
to places you have never been. sleep out alone
under the stars. learn how to drive a stick shift.
go so far away that you stop being afraid of not
coming back. say no when you don't want to do
something. say yes if your instincts are strong, even
if everyone around you disagrees. decide whether
you want to be liked or admired. decide if fitting in
is more important than finding out what you're doing here.
believe in kissing.

even ensler
