43 years ago today.

january 30, 1969
the beatles made their last live appearance on the rooftop
of the apple building in london (& no, it's not the apple you're thinking of.)
this is one of my favorite songs from that show.

pretty sure y'all already know this, but i think i should have
been there. i mean, come on.
in fact, i'm sure that i was there, in some way or another.
happy wednesday!

my birthday present.

luke gave me the other half of my birthday present over the weekend, & what a lovely present it was.
for those who don't remember, i accidentally found the first part of my present a couple weeks ago while cleaning... two vinyls by the xx. it was a great surprise, even if it came a little early.
on saturday, luke took me & his sister marti to the pie for some delicious pizza nomz, & then we headed over to kilby court to see milo greene play.
we first saw milo greene when they opened for the civil wars back in may. we were amazed at how incredible these guys are.
we wanted to go see them in august but it fell on the same day as our family triathlon...we were kinda bummed about that.
but luckily these guys show utah some love more than twice a year...& we were very excited about that.
luke bought me their vinyl & we even got the band to sign it... all in all it was a seriously awesome day...despite the snow storm we had to drive home through.
random art on the bathroom door.
so fun!

free concerts are my fave.

the highlight of this past weekend was REDFEST, a concert held at U of U. thanks to marti's friend who is a U of U student, she got us 2 FREE tickets to brand new & manchester orchestra!!!! we were so excited. brand new is luke's favorite band (other than the beatles) & i'm a huge fan of both bands. brand new especially holds a dear spot in my heart as it reminds me of my best friend adam. he lives on catalina island but both luke & i were wishing he was at the show with us.

mumford & sons.

it was a lovely evening last night at the mumford & sons show. i've wanted to see these guys live for years, & i could NOT pass up the chance to finally see them in the great state of utah! they were incredible, way better live than i was expecting...it was at the great saltair so the view was beautiful too!
my little sister gets married tomorrow & so ends the last few weeks of CRAZYNESS. it's been so awesome having all the fam back together but i am ready for school to start & to get back into some form of routine!
happy weekend!

horse feathers.

i'm a bit behind on blogging as august has gotten the best of me & i'm SO SO BUSY!
but last thursday luke & i were able to go to the horse feathers concert at the ogden nature center.
horse feathers are an awesome band from portland..listen to them here and here. i feel like my dad would really like them because they have SO many songs with beautiful string solos. there's a cello, 2 violins, a mandalin, & an acoustic guitar.. rad.
it was a beautiful night out, with beautiful music. we even bought one of their albums on record! it's my favorite when artists release vinyl!

next month...

look what arrived in mine & ally's mailbox the other day.... eep!!
i've been hoping mumford & sons would come to play a show in UT ever since i fell in love with them in 2010. & it's finally happening! ally & i, accompanied by our boyfriends, are in for a night of spectacular folk rock, at a beautiful venue at the edge of the great salt lake.
so excited, so excited!

after that we headed to the SLC to go on an awesome adventure. we found abbey road AND the civil wars - barton hallow albums on vinyl...great success!
then we wandered around the gateway before it was finally time to go watch fun.! we met up with our old friend chase & his fiance kaylee. it was a great time.

of montreal.

for luke's birthday in march i got him tickets to see of montreal, a favorite band of his. i also happen to love them...they remind me of a present day beatles. a big compliment to give, i know, but they definitely live up to it. the show was finally on monday...don't worry, we've been looking forward to it for weeks. their live show is incredible!
we got right up front as they took the stage and it was probably one of the weirdest/craziest concerts i've been to. they had randomly dressed dancers on stage for most of it. it was nuts!

one of the keyboardists..i had no idea there were girls in the band!

pigs...right? it was crazy.

we were so excited!!
i do pretty good with birthday presents, if i can say so myself.

trans-siberian orchestra.

this week my friend kallie won 2 tickets on the radio to see
trans-siberian orchestra
live at the energy solutions arena. and she asked me to go with her!
here we are waiting to get in.. it was freezing. and windy [hence why my hair is all gross and frizzy].
but it ended up being totally worth it!! they put on a great live show and my favorite song was their version of god rest ye merry gentlemen and carol of the bells

their light show in itself was fun to watch... let alone watching a bunch of long haired dudes rock out on their guitars [and some fabulous women dancing and singing] to christmas music. it was a super fun night. thanks kallie for taking me!!!

happy weekend!

circa survive.

[sorry about the awful picture quality. i'm for sure asking for a new camera for christmas.]
the highlight of my weekend was going to see circa survive, dredg, and animals as leaders live. animals as leaders did the best by far.. they are some incredibly talented musicians. it blew my mind!
however i love circa survive, and they were the reason i went. they are so awesome, and anthony green is my favorite. i liked him better in saosin [check out their song "seven years"] but circa survive is the next best thing. they played at in the venue... one of the best venues in salt lake city. between bands we played pool, hung out on the deck and i was able to meet up with a few of my logan friends who i hadn't seen in forever. all in all it was a great night!
hooray for concerts!

lydia.

lydia is one of my favorite bands. lucky for me i got to see them live yesterday at in the venue in salt lake city. i went with scott, aaron, krystal, chelsea, lexy, and ally, and met some new people while i was there.
it was amazing, to say the least.
emme packer opened.

LYDIA!
i was a bit depressed to find that mindy white wasn't touring with them...at first i almost thought it was going to ruin the concert! but they blew my mind. they are one of the most talented bands around! check out my favorites here and here.

scott and i at the show...pretty excited at this point!
hope your weekend was fabulous. even if you missed out big time by not seeing lydia!

aaron & i are famous.

not really.
but salt lake city weekly magazine did take our picture at the dodo's show a couple weeks back.
they just barely sent me this. i quite like it.

the dodo's.

desiree and i at the dodo's concert.
the twilight concert series has easily been the best part of my summer. spending every thursday with kaysville and logan friends together, listening to live music for free. it does not get much better than that.

BEIRUT.

yesterday was kind of a bad day at first.
but luckily i had something to look forward to...that was how i got through my day.
and FINALLY, after a ridiculous afternoon consisting of tears and flat tires,
i went to beirut with my good friend patton.
[notice the suit and bowler hat. win.]
beirut just happens to be one of my favorite bands. and they came yesterday as part of the twilight concert series...so it was free. the best kind of concerts are the free ones.
and of course, they didn't hesitate to amaze me.
they are definitely incredibly talented. if i could sing like the lead singer... or play the accordion.. life would be so good!

taken by hannah.
spot mike in his bowler hat.. and you can see just how close we were.
it was breathtaking. i can't wait to see the dodo's next week!

leather jackets and classic rock.

this weekend was pretty much amazing.
friday was my friend aaron's birthday party...
here we are both in leather jackets, which we thought was pretty cool.
we're pretty much in a gang.

our  friend woni  also showed up in a leather jacket. :]
we're pretty dang hardcore.

the other highlight of my weekend was a date with my mama.
we went to see styx, foreigner and kansas play live down in tooele.

it was so much fun!! my mom is so great.
and look at her...she's absolutely beautiful too!
how did i get so lucky?

i love whysound.

it was another wonderful night in logan two nights ago
and we got to see sons o'valley [a local, awesome band] play with
kid theodore, my cousin's band.
i not only got to spend the night with good music and good friends
but got to see my cousin gardner for the first time in several months!
such fun.

ICAN'TWAIT

i know i have previously mentioned this..
but summer concerts are something of a weakness of mine.
and luckily, there are so many free concerts this summer through the twilight concert series. i am absolutely, beyond stoked to see these amazing bands/musicians live this summer:

modest mouse
girl talk
BEIRUT!!!!!!
she & him
matisyahu
i'm also pretty dang stoked to be going to hopefully two amazing concerts with my sweet mama! the end of the month we're seeing STYX, FOREIGNER, AND KANSAS. and later this summer we may have the awesome opportunity of seeing the one and only:
sir paul mccartney.

i can't even wait!! and am still in shock that a beatle is finally coming to good old utah.
