it looks like the most beautiful place in the world, and i've told my other friend adam that i would come out to visit him every summer for 5 years now, and i have yet to do so. 

it's happening this summer! with a stop in vegas to see LOVE possibly...

aaron's birthday party.

last weekend my best friend aaron turned 21!!! time just absolutely flies. i swear it was just yesterday it was MY 21st birthday....

so crazy to think about!

anyway, this kid has been an awesome person to be friends with, especially over the past year. he's proof to me that there are such thing as good guys, and he had my back at my worst times, when it seemed like no one else did.

the best day of my internship so far.

i actually wasn't even scheduled to work my internship today, but ben winslow invited me to help him out at the sentencing of brian david mitchell. i couldn't pass up the chance to see a reporter in action! and it was a crazy awesome, stressful, crowded day. we waited outside the courthouse to see the results of the sentencing [life in prison, without parole...awesome] and then did interviews with brian david mitchell's step daughter as well as elizabeth smart herself.

she was very polished and calm...and i won't lie, she did bring tears to my eyes. so much for keeping my cool! this woman has been a great example to me and many others though. i am so glad the sentence was so just. very rarely do perpetrators get the full sentence they deserve.

this cute little munchkin.

my niece grace is already a year and a half old, going on 18. she loves to wear her cute pink sunglasses. she KNOWS she's cute, so she knows she can probably get away with anything [and i'm ok with that.] she's such a little princess, and i love every time she comes over!!

i haven't listened to mute math since maybe my freshman year, but i jammed them today while cleaning the kitchen. and i completely forgot how amazing they are. amazing! and according to their twitter account, a new album is on the way!! *happy dance*
who else is enjoying this sun as much as me?? i totally jammed mute math's older album [check out my favorites here and here] this morning while out doing yardwork with my dad...who conveniently mentioned how pasty white i am and how badly i need sun.
on that note, i'm off to lay out on the trampoline with my cat and a book. happy saturday!

SKY DIVE.

i celebrated the warm weekend by going sky diving for the second time!!! this time i went with my coworker steven and my little sister casie. it was both of their first times which made it fun to watch them. i was SO NERVOUS from remembering what it was like when i went the first time:

and the second time was no exception...i was just as nervous as before and kinda felt like i was gonna puke. it was so much fun though...a great start to my summer.

hooray for bucket lists!

of montreal.

for luke's birthday in march i got him tickets to see of montreal, a favorite band of his. i also happen to love them...they remind me of a present day beatles. a big compliment to give, i know, but they definitely live up to it. the show was finally on monday...don't worry, we've been looking forward to it for weeks. their live show is incredible!

we got right up front as they took the stage and it was probably one of the weirdest/craziest concerts i've been to. they had randomly dressed dancers on stage for most of it. it was nuts!

busy!

i started my internship at fox 13 news this week!
the past 2 days, i have worked at 5 or 6 am at starbucks, and then worked at my internship 1 pm to 10 pm. needless to say i DEFINITELY slept in this morning.

but i love my internship, it's totally worth it!! the first day was a bit overwhelming... the newsroom is constantly busy and bustling, and it was a lot to take in! they had me answer phones and listen to the police scanners..something that i found very entertaining. haha. the only thing that really jumped out was at about 8:15 pm when there was a report of a near drowning in kearns. we got a live truck out there to get a report on it and it was crazy to see how quickly they got a story together for the 9 o'clock news. so much goes into what you see on your television every night and i had no idea!

i took this on my first night there for the 9 o'clock news. this is the news control room, where most of the producers [what i'm interning for] spend their time! they make sure everything flows smoothly and that everyone who is live is ready to go.

yesterday was my second day and it was awesome. i still answered phones but this time i got to do a little more producer type things.. i wrote teasers [the "coming up next" things you always hear the anchors say] and looked up national stories to use on the news. 

all in all it's only been 2 days and it's already been a great experience! i'm so excited to learn all i can about broadcast journalism. it's so much fun!

warm weather, live music, good friends and fun..

this weekend was an epic success.

i spent cinco de mayo around a campfire with some old friends. i spent friday at one of my best friend's graduation parties thrown by his momma. [who is also one of the best people i know! love that whole family.]  saturday i went to the gates hunsaker benefit concert..it was a great time, and hearing gates talk about how grateful he was for the support gave me chills. what a great example of someone who always sees the positive side of life. for more info on gates, follow his blog! i spent saturday night relaxing since being in the sun and around people all weekend basically had me exhausted.

all in all it was a great weekend. i start my internship this week [more on that later!] so i will be a busy busy bee this summer. it was nice to have a long relaxing weekend!

she is the greatest lady on this planet. she works so hard for her family, and is always putting other people before herself! my mom is such a blast..she loves roller coasters and sky diving as much as i do! we're both adrenaline junkies. this photo was taken almost exactly a year ago, at the styx/foreigner/kansas concert. i owe her for my love of awesome classic rock!

despite what seems to have been a neverending winter...

i have noticed a couple signs of spring cropping up in my backyard.

there is hope. we have people who will continue to fight until we have won.

ps i loved obama's speech last night. he is probably the greatest public speaker our country has ever seen. and i loved his point about this not being a war against islam, but a war against terrorists. i have a lot of muslim friends, who hate being compared to people like osama bin laden. it was a great speech, and a historical moment i will never forget!
