because i'm a crazy cat lady, so i have to post cat pictures every so often.

the other day luke, adam (who was visiting from catalina island!) & i went to luke's friend's house. he's been friends with this family for years, & his friend's daughter eniya has the biggest crush on luke ever. it's hilarious.

anyway, while we were there, we made friends with the two kittens they got a few months ago..spike & kodah. 

spike loved adam so much. it was precious. he's easy to love though, no?

chickens & kids

last week i got to stay at my parent's house & pet sit four adult chickens & four baby chicks. it was pretty fun, not gonna lie...the chicks love to hang out under the red light that keeps them warm. the big chickens love to eat food out of your hands...my nephew, niece & i couldn't get enough of it. & i couldn't get enough of them!

so my parents chickens are HUGE. i find them rather disgusting, actually...no longer cute fluffy chicks = lauren does not want to hold them. or touch them.

my niece, nephew and little sister, however, don't feel the same.

i went home on sunday to pick up some things and eat dessert with the family, and we spent quite a bit of time outside in the yard feeding the chickens leaves.

and lucky for me, my parents ordered 4 more baby chicks! soon enough i'll be able to hold them and call them "cute" again. :)

on a side note, my nephew and niece are the cutest. i am obsessed with them. especially when they do cute things like:

matthew is the funniest. "we're matthew & grace, if you like us send a message!" i don't know what goes through his head half the time, but it sure makes for a good laugh.

it's official. i am a crazy cat lady.

seriously!!!! i don't know what is wrong with me. so the new house that i live in has 3 stray cats that have apparently made our area home.
luke told me that it was a bad idea to get attached to them...i think he had a feeling that there was nothing he could do, but he tried anyway. sure enough, he caught me feeding them tuna fish the other day. and much to his distaste (and his poor face, since he's incredibly allergic) i had named the little buggers.

i can't help it. i fell in love! so on top of ally's cat, who i am "cat sitting" for the semester, i now am the proud mama of three cute outdoor kitty cats.

this is SIMON! the boy kitty, named after the beautiful, talented amazing paul simon.

meet belle! i named her after one of my favorite musical groups, belle and sebastian. she can't sit still to save her life, hence why i can't seem to ever get a good picture of her.

they're cute, right?! it's not just me?

and how can i forget this adorable lady? she's so mad at me for talking to the other kitties... but i think she knows deep down that she is my favorite. 

the chicken coop.

say hello to my family's latest project.
we're currently working on building a chicken coop for our baby chicks we got last month.
which aren't so "baby" anymore, by the way..anyways, we're not even halfway done with the thing, but i think it's safe to say the chickens already LOVE it.

they climbed on up in it when we weren't looking...so cute!
they love to sit close together on the little ledge, and watch us out in the yard!
who knew chickens would be so much fun?

baby chicks.

for the past couple months my dad has been talking about buying baby chicks,

and raising them for their eggs. at first we didn't think he was serious...
after all, my parents already have three dogs, a cat [two including my cat], and over a hundred fish in our back yard.
i thought it was getting a bit crowded.
 but he was serious!

yesterday our six baby chicks arrived at the post office, and we were so excited! 

mine is named ELEANOR RIGBY.
i'll probably call her ellie for short.

kylie's is the smallest, so of course she named hers tiny.

my sister casie also has one named brunhilda. and my dad is still deciding on a name for his!

fingers crossed that nesta likes the new arrivals and doesn't try to eat them..

she's such a dorky cat...like her mama's. i'll never forget when emily and i got her, and were thinking of names, and emily said, "what about nesta?" nesta, bob marley's middle name...there was never a  more perfect name for any cat EVER. she's such a laid back kitty who would make a great rasta.

she's a little brat, who loves to get into trouble, but i love her to bits and pieces.

man of the house and other things.

this week is a crazy one. my mom is on a cruise [she's so lucky...i really don't want to talk about it...boo.] my dad is out of town for business. so it's me and the sistas, who are 13 and 11, so it's more of a good time than actual "babysitting."
however, we still have a man of the house present while papa is gone.. and he is a ferocious beast who will protect us and devour any intruder!!

hahahah.

it's true that sir timothy, aka timmy, timitron, and tiny tim, is our so-called "guard dog". 

he is more here to give me someone to hang out with than to protect us i think. either way, i'm playing mom for the next 3 days... keeping track of where my sisters need to be and when, making sure they get to school and do their homework, clean and cook, AND my usual work and school. now i know what my mom means when she says being a mom is a full time job.

something that makes you feel better.

that is easy...it's my cat!! this is my cat, nesta, who has many nicknames including "nesta pesta" "nesta prime" (we pretend she's a transformer), "stinky brat" (very appropriate), or "kitten little". she is almost 2 and is the naughtiest cat around. she loves to drink out of the toilet, pick on the dogs, harass older cats (ally's cat sofie was super entertaining to watch, as is my parent's cat cleopatra..), climb trees outside, and sleep on important things/dark clothing.
however, despite her naughtiness she is the best thing in my world. every day i come home to her whiny meow, but i can't help but love it. she loves to hang out with me and cuddle with me. i'm fairly certain she has a sixth sense and can tell when i am sad. those days she tries extra hard to be cute...it almost always works.

she is kind of like a dog stuck in a cat's body...which makes me love her even more. not to mention, last but not least, she is named after one of my idols robert nesta marley, and she more than lives up to her namesake!

i love my cat. she makes me happy.

happy birfday.

today my favorite little puppy kiara turns TWO.

she is the dog my friends emily, adam and i had in logan [she now lives with adam]. i miss her being my roommate sooo bad, and so does miss nesta. she's the cutest little puppy ever. i miss her one blue eye and playing fetch with her almost every day.

i think i'm puppy hungry.

i think it's mostly due to hanging out with the cute pitbull puppy kano. he is such a well behaved little guy. except when he bites my earrings.

i've found that i'm a bit puppy hungry lately.
[not hungry to eat a puppy...jeez. just hungry for a little guy of my own.]
all of my friends have been getting dogs lately, and as much as i LOVE being "aunt lauren" i kind of want to be a mommy.

this is my friend nick's pit bull, soraya. she is so beautiful and well behaved. anyone who judges pit bulls and thinks they're all mean should meet her. your heart will melt.

my coworker brought in her brother's bulldog gabby today. she is SO CUTE!! seriously the most roly poly adorable bulldog i've ever met.

ah it makes me want a dog so bad. nesta is cute and all, but cats just aren't the same!!! basically i can't wait for the day when i can afford a cute little puppy for my own. i already know what breed i'm going to get, thanks to this cute boy who changed my life for forever:
