weekend.

 

the highlight of my weekend was facetiming with my texas family.

 

omelettes for breakfast.

 

aaaand homework.

that's pretty much what my weekend consisted of.

we did get out to see MAMA which was terrifying.. i have a love-hate relationship with scary movies. :/

and now it appears my flu bug has turned into the stomach flu.. so.. stay away!

this week is horrible timing to get sick.

but.. that's how it seems to go, right? happy tuesday!

bad case of the monday's.

so i totally fell asleep at the wheel yesterday on my way to work.. i know, i know. scary. luckily it was literally 30 seconds from my house.
see, i had woken up late & had to be to work at 11 that night.. so i basically threw on some clothes & jumped in my car. well turns out i should have given myself a few more minutes to wake up, or at least brought a cup of coffee with me, because yeah, this happened around the corner from my house:

 

i only had time to snap one photo (as i was busy calling luke bawling, & then calling work asking what to do). luke came down to try to change the tire, but we're pretty sure there's more damage than i thought.

either way, i realized quickly how glad i was to be okay when luke got out of his car & threw his arms around me & asked "are you ok!?!" then he pointed out later, "if you hadn't have done it in the neighborhood going 20... you might have done it later, on the highway, & this would have been a whole lot worse."

my work sent a camera guy to pick me up & then i seriously slept the whole drive to work. just goes to show that this job is seriously killing me. i can't wait to graduate & hopefully move around to start producing a different show there.

anywho.

i was already having a crappy weekend in general, thanks to studying for finals, but mostly thanks to this:
 

 

i walked into great clips in ogden on saturday cuz i was in the neighborhood & REALLY needed a trim. i told the lady how i'd been growing my beautiful curly hair out for TWO YEARS, & i was so proud of how long it was getting...my mermaid hair...

i told her to take off about an inch.. just the messy gross ends, & that i wanted my hair thinned out so i didn't look like a horse anymore.

she took that to mean "cut off 6 inches & give me layers."

i had to take my glasses off for the whole thing so i honestly didn't notice what she was doing. i put them back on at the end when she asked what i thought & i got teary eyed & said, "oh..this isn't what i wanted at all."
SIX INCHES GONE!!!!!! layers that don't even fit in a ponytail!!!! thicker hair on one side of my head!!!

weekend (if you could call it that)

it's that time of year...where my weekends feel no different than my weekdays.

i spent a total of 10 hours on campus this weekend writing papers & getting ready for exams.

also trying to pass math as i've fallen behind in recent weeks & can't seem to get above a 50 on my quizzes. with two tests left until the end of the class...le sigh. we're cutting it close, folks.

but here are a few peeks at the weekend anyway, since i know you're all DYING to see photos of my pretty face. :P

mikki's baby shower.

over the weekend my friend mikki had a baby shower to celebrate the birth of her third daughter, who is coming in january (or sooner, depending on how baby scout feels.) it was such a fun baby shower... the first i've been to that wasn't a family one, so it was very different than other baby showers. either way, everything was adorable & it was so fun!! congrats mikki, bryan, paikea & hunter! i bet paikea is up in heaven keeping an eye on baby scout until she gets here.

we played a game where you had to chug a beer out of a sippy cup, first one to finish wins.

as you can tell by my face, i was NOT pleased. & got my butt kicked.

other weekend randoms

 

the highlight of the weekends are when i get the chance to facetime with my family in texas. matthew showed me his missing teeth (he's got such a holey smile now... it's the cutest!) although it also made me kinda sad cuz nothing says "i'm growing up too fast" like losing all your baby teeth.

grace was also ecstatic to show me she had gotten the present luke & i sent her... i'm so glad she likes it. the disney store in city creek is awesome, & as long as grace keeps loving princesses, i'll keep finding awesome things for her for bdays/christmas. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW GRACE COSETTE! it seems like just yesterday i was holding her little body in my arms. 

 

i also got to see my wittle redhead preston...he thought facetime was pretty much the coolest thing ever.

also, i love alex in the background of this...trying to eat grace's belle doll that i got her for her birthday. 

  

the rest of the weekend was spent being lazy with this little brat...who has been especially cuddly lately. probably because we're both hating this weather:

but it sure was fun being on the radio anyway.

if you're ever in the ogden area & you hear someone that sounds like me...it probably is me! 88.1 weber fm has started letting me & my friend jenny record promos to run all week long! it's for the blog i write for, which is all about ogden. so we get to spout off a list of all the great things happening in ogden all week...and they play our "ad" 100 times per day!

i'm super excited about this; it'll be a great way for WSU students to get involved & realize ogden is actually SUPER awesome.

we also got to be on the "local lounge" radio show last weekend! mikki, jenny & i were interviewed by 3 dudes (sadly i can't remember their names) about ogden, how we keep up the blog that's gotten super huge in the past few months, & other random things (like what we're being for halloween. haha). it was so fun! & although i learned the hard way i do NOT have a voice for radio, i enjoyed it nonetheless.

this weekend was a much needed relaxing weekend spent with family. since most of my fam will soon be out-of-staters, i'm getting in as much family time as i can before they all leave me. luckily we still have luke's family in kaysville, so that will be nice. but overall i'm already missing my brothers & sisters-in-law, & especially my ridiculously cute nephews & niece.

every conference weekend my family goes camping, usually at wasatch mountain state park. this year they were closed for some reason (boo) so they opted for jordanelle instead.

luke & i went up to spend the day with them saturday, & it was beautiful:

Weekendin'

 

ally blowing out the candles on her birthday cheesecake. she turned 24 yesterday & we celebrated with her mom (my landlord), her mom's boyfriend, & her brother. we ate edamame, ginger chicken, rice & cheesecake for dessert! YUM.

it was a lovely weekend, filled with family, friends, lots of food, and my kitty cat. the weekends always go by WAY too fast... and midnight on monday always comes way too soon. luckily i only work overnights twice this week... wednesday through friday i'm filling in for the nightside crew and i'm SO EXCITED to be reunited with the people i've worked with the most.

here's some highlights from the weekend: 

 

kickin' it with nesta pants, my little tiger. (she is grounded, by the way, for ripping holes in my bike tires. little stink.)

 

catching a million of preston's big smiles (& tears) on camera.. this kid is gettin' to the funnest stage of babyhood.. he's startin' to try to crawl around, make noise, smile & laugh. 

these were all taken saturday, at alex's goodbye dinner. he leaves this morning for texas :( it was great to have one last  hurrah before he moves... there's a lot of big changes goin' on in our family...soon enough there will be more family members out of state than in utah i think. we'll see. 

  

i love having weekends off because i can finally take advantage of the AWESOME farmer's market ogden has. seriously, if you're in utah & haven't been to this one yet you have to go. they have so many adorable crafts & delicious food! I had a pumpkin chocolate chip slice of bread & it was heavenly.

lack of sleep does a lot to a person.

 

well i survived week one of my new job. barely.

it's safe to say that if you saw me at all last week, you saw me at my craziest... and that's not an exaggeration. poor luke saw everything from crying, laughing, screaming, even throwing temper tantrums. it was bad.

my body does NOT know how to shut down when it's daylight out. i put blankets over the windows, took some tylenol pm, put a handkerchief over my eyes...anything to help my body feel like it was nighttime. but basically nothing worked & it wasn't until i had gone 35+ hours without sleep that i finally crashed. hard.

however, i survived, & even left with some hilarious new memories... here are bits & pieces of my week:

1. after 35 hours of no sleep, i was trying to do math & was NOT succeeding. when i got frustrated i told luke, "THIS SUCKS BECAUSE I'M STILL 3 EPISODES BEHIND!" (instead of assignments)

2. singing teletubbies theme song while driving home from malad, idaho, to help myself stay awake.

3. also jamming pink floyd with all 4 windows down & using my steering wheel as a drumset.

4. running into the door because i was too tired to notice it wasn't open.

5. after trying to sleep for 4 hours with no luck, opening a gallon of ice cream & eating out of it with a spoon. luke says, "wow...are you okay? i've seen you eat ice cream out of the container exactly 1 time, & you weren't doing so hot then..." hahahha!

needless to say it's been one of those weeks. but i am fired up & ready for this week's adventures. hopefully i get some more sleep!
