bad case of the monday's.

so i totally fell asleep at the wheel yesterday on my way to work.. i know, i know. scary. luckily it was literally 30 seconds from my house.
see, i had woken up late & had to be to work at 11 that night.. so i basically threw on some clothes & jumped in my car. well turns out i should have given myself a few more minutes to wake up, or at least brought a cup of coffee with me, because yeah, this happened around the corner from my house:
i only had time to snap one photo (as i was busy calling luke bawling, & then calling work asking what to do). luke came down to try to change the tire, but we're pretty sure there's more damage than i thought.
boo.
either way, i realized quickly how glad i was to be okay when luke got out of his car & threw his arms around me & asked "are you ok!?!" then he pointed out later, "if you hadn't have done it in the neighborhood going 20... you might have done it later, on the highway, & this would have been a whole lot worse."
my work sent a camera guy to pick me up & then i seriously slept the whole drive to work. just goes to show that this job is seriously killing me. i can't wait to graduate & hopefully move around to start producing a different show there.

anywho.
i was already having a crappy weekend in general, thanks to studying for finals, but mostly thanks to this:

i walked into great clips in ogden on saturday cuz i was in the neighborhood & REALLY needed a trim. i told the lady how i'd been growing my beautiful curly hair out for TWO YEARS, & i was so proud of how long it was getting...my mermaid hair...
i told her to take off about an inch.. just the messy gross ends, & that i wanted my hair thinned out so i didn't look like a horse anymore.
she took that to mean "cut off 6 inches & give me layers."
i had to take my glasses off for the whole thing so i honestly didn't notice what she was doing. i put them back on at the end when she asked what i thought & i got teary eyed & said, "oh..this isn't what i wanted at all."
SIX INCHES GONE!!!!!! layers that don't even fit in a ponytail!!!! thicker hair on one side of my head!!!

first world problems. ;)
hope your weekend was better than mine.

a good read.

if you're feeling rather bored, & perhaps wanting to get inside my head a bit, check out this blog post i stumbled across the other day, that made me feel a lot better about how different i am.
so while my friends are busy saying things like, "when in the world are you getting engaged?" or "how come you & luke never want to have kids?" i'm thinking "why do people feel the need to ask? why do i have to explain myself?"
& yes, unless there's a SERIOUS accident, there will be no babies.

the weekend = lauren goes to work.

that's right folks. these past 2 days have been my "weekend" of sorts (where i only work 4 hours one day, & only 6 hours the next day!) & now it's back to the daily grind of working doubles, trying to make enough money to be able to go to school 5 days a week in the fall. did i mention how stressful senior year is!? holy freaking cow!
anyways, sometimes going to work for hours at a time isn't so bad. especially when one of south ogden's favorite regulars takes me for a spin through the drive thru to get my black tea lemonade:

ps did i mention i hate bullet bikes? i wouldn't let him go any faster than 5 mph. he kept chuckling at me for screaming every time he had to turn the wheel.
someday i'll get over my fear of bikes... & get a vespa.

week one...

it's day two of my gluten-free diet, & even though it's only been a little over 24 hours, i've learned some things....
1. EVERYTHING has gluten in it. like....everything. i wanted to give up when i realized no more ranch eggs, or breaded chicken, or BREAD in general. (luke conveniently ate a ranch egg in front of me this morning, & i almost cried.)
2. thank heavens celiac is popular these days, because there are quite a few options as to gluten-free noodles, rice, etc.
3. you have to make every meal. every. single. meal. for someone who doesn't know how to cook anything more than ramen and mac & cheese, this is going to be DIFFICULT. (any suggestions would be appreciated. i've been living off avocados, yogurt, & my mom's rice & yellow sauce...but you can only have that for so long.)
4. there are a LOT of gluten-free recipes. if they all didn't sound so difficult, i'd be relieved. but it's almost stressing me out more.
5. it's pricey... this has been the main reason i haven't tried a gluten-free diet in the past. i'm barely going to be able to afford it with my measly paychecks & bills i already have to pay.
6. i feel loads better already, which is a relief.

perhaps this whole time it really just is a gluten intolerance! i've been tested for celiac, crohn's, a bum gall bladder, infection & more, but my fingers are crossed that after 5 long years of horribleness, endoscopy's, hyda-scan's, & colonoscopy's, i may have found the answer. yay!
i'll keep y'all posted.
